Today news went out that the Prince George’s County Public Schools would hold a series of hearings on possible school boundary changes…today.
After giving just a few hours of public notice officials with the Prince George’s County Public Schools announced plans to hold hearings today at Central High School, Wednesday at Roosevelt High School, and Thursday at Gwynn Park Middle School to discuss “improving school boundaries.” The Office of Pupil Accounting is also seeking comment to “address boundary concerns at Kingsford, Highland Park,
Yorktown, and Baden elementary schools.” The hearing will also focus on discussing the “possibility of
shifting sixth grade into middle schools.”

The Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Office of Pupil Accounting
and School Boundaries will host three public forums to provide an
opportunity for students, parents and community members to share ideas on
improving school boundaries. Public input will be used to develop
recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Education.
Topics include addressing boundary concerns at Kingsford, Highland Park,
Yorktown, and Baden elementary schools; discussing the possibility of
shifting sixth grade into middle schools; adjusting boundaries for specialty
programs; and ensuring that all students in a neighborhood attend the same
